Welcome to my classroom!

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Andy Oldenburg, and I’m so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! In ECSE, we plan to learn and grow a lot throughout the year. We plan to do this through many different ways, but we primarily plan to play. Children learn best through play. Plus, it’s fun!

My dream for this classroom is that all children feel welcomed and are valued for who they are. There are two assistants working alongside me in the classroom this year. Their names are Julie and Katie, both of whom are experienced and caring assistants. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to meet them as they are a crucial part of the team. Please know that you are always welcome to visit our classroom to check in, participate, or simply to observe.

This is my third year as a lead teacher since finishing my Masters of Education program at the University of Minnesota. Although this is only my third year teaching, I have been in the Minneapolis Public School District since 2012 working in ECSE classrooms.

When I’m not at school, I spend most of my time with my wife, Shannon, and our newborn son, Lux. We enjoy being outside as much as possible by biking, swimming (when it’s actually warm enough), and hiking in the woods.

If you have any questions, please email me at andrew.oldenburg@mpls.k12.mn.us or call at 612.668.2270 ext. 38520.

Let’s have a great year!
