Dear parents and students

Welcome to Cityview school! I am so glad that you have chosen to have your child attend first grade here at cityview in my classroom. I would just like to tell you a little about myself. I have been teaching for 20 years. 18 of those years have been in first grade and in Minneapolis.  I am married to a wonderful woman  with 3 amazing children! I love to just hang out with my family and play about any sport I can.

I believe all children can learn. I have high expectations  for all of my students. My classroom is going to be a positive environment for your child. I believe it is important to build relationships with my students and also have them do the same with their classmates. We will do this through a morning meeting in which we greet each other and share about ourselves. My classroom will be a place of learning where students will feel confident to try new things and hopefully even be willing to take risks and make some mistakes. Structure and organization are 2 things that are also very important to the learning process in my room.

I want to partner with you in your child's education. I will need your help and support as the year goes on. We will be having conferences which I hope you will be attending especially at the beginning of the year. Please make sure your child completes their homework each week. I will send it home on Monday and you will have the week to complete it and return on Friday. There will be a newsletter every Monday that will keep you up to date on what we are doing in the room. Please sign that letter and return with the homework packet on Friday so I know you have seen it.  I am looking forward to a great year of working with you to make this an amazing year of learning for your child!
