Welcome to the Art Room!
Hello and welcome to the Art Room!

My name is Maxwell Green, and I’m very excited to be at Cityview as the Art Teacher. I recently graduated from Luther College with degrees in both art and education, and I have taught art in a variety of educational settings around Minneapolis prior to coming to Cityview. I know I have big shoes to fill, but we have tons of fun and valuable learning experiences planned here in room 240. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of my students and watching their creativity and imaginations thrive. Teaching and creating art are two of my greatest passions, and I know that we will have a blast creating together! I truly believe that creative expression through making art is crucial to education and that every single one of us are unique artists and learners.

Our goals in room 240 will be to build a safe, thoughtful, and inclusive community; develop critical visual thinking strategies; explore a wide variety of materials, contemporary artists, cultures, techniques, processes, and ideas; and have plenty of fun along the way! I also hope to continue using the gallery space to share all of the amazing student artwork throughout the year.

When I am not teaching art, I am usually making my own art at my studio/house here in North Minneapolis, including painting, comics, printmaking, and music! Besides that, I typically spend my time biking around the city, rock climbing, playing soccer, backpacking, canoeing, camping, and pretty much anything else I can do to enjoy the outdoors. I also love to cook!

Thanks for checking in, and let's have a great year!

Feel free to contact me at the art room (#240) if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or just want to chat and check out the beautiful art space we have here.  Otherwise, you can reach me at
